Work of great artistic value, the ‘Duomo’ (Cathedral) of Santa Maria ad Nives dates back to the XIV century. It has a portal where the decorations of the sun and the moon recall Islamic features. The damages caused by the several earthquakes that have devastated the village have created an interesting unevenness in the harmonic architecture of the Duomo.
Its façade of the XIV century is in contrast with its inside of the XVIII century. Simple and sober, the façade is majestic in all its elegance. There is a portal with a pointed arch and on the top part of the façade there is a rose window, then two niches with the statues of S. Antonio Abate and San Nicola di Bari and on top of these, an archaic Crucifix. The inside of the Church, with one nave, is enriched by some relevant paintings, such as the ‘Annunciazione’ (XVI century) and a picture of the XIX century representing ‘La Madonna della Neve’, who the Church is dedicated to.
