In the centre of Venosa there is the beautiful Castle built by the Aragonese in 1470.
This building has a regular aspect and reminds the ‘Maschio Angioino’ in Naples.
It has a square shape, cylindrical towers and is surrounded by a wide moat.
In the characteristic corner towers, which show the traditional embattlements, armouries are kept; while in the vaults there are the dungeons, as for marking the parting from life and light.
On the inside there is a wide central court, overlooked by the residential palace and its elegant loggia, where social life took place, away from the external dangers and devastation.
The Manor, in the heart of the village, is a unique monument containing pages of history and culture, engraved on this eternal stone book.
