Traces of the ancient Venusia history can be found amongst the archaeological finds in the National Museum.
It was opened in 1991. It is arranged inside the Aragon Castle, more precisely, in the basement gallery, and is composed by 5 separate sections.
1. Pre-Roman Period
2. The Period of Romanisation
3. From the end of the Roman Republic to the Augustan Age
4. The Imperial Age
5. From the Late Roman Empire to the IX century
This substantial archaeological heritage allows to retrace the historical milestones from Pre-history to the Norman period.
It is made up by ceramics, coins, funerary finds, floor mosaics.
