In Rotonda, the site of the ‘Parco Nazionale del Pollino’, in ‘Plazzo Amato’ there is an interesting natural History Museum.
Amongst the most interesting finds kept inside, there are the thighbone of an ‘Uro’, who lived in the area around Rotonda about 100,000 years ago, the almost complete skeleton of an ‘Elephas antiquus’ (ancient elephant) and the incomplete lower jaw of a ‘Hippopotamus amphibius’, all found in the Mercure Valley and dating from the interglacial age Mindel Riss.
