Along the coast of Maratea there are the ruins of six Sighting Towers: Crini, Acquafredda, Apprezzami l’Asino, Caina, Filocaio, and Santa Venere.
These Towers were built to protect the village and to warn against pirate attacks.
They have a square base and were built by the Spaniards in the VI century, to be defended against the Saracens.
