The SATA factory, which belongs to FIAT, was built in Melfi between 1991 and 1993.

On a 2,000,000-square-metre wide surface almost 7,000 people work and about 450,000 cars are produced every year.

This factory has a very high productivity rate and is an example of how organisational development has brought FIAT to creating an integrated factory first, and then, with the use of modules, a modular integrated factory.

In this factory Lancia Y and Fiat Punto are made. Very recently the 3,000,000th car has been produced.
