Brienza’s Mediaeval Village is of great interest for its historical, cultural, morphological and typological characteristics.
Its higher part is totally occupied by the Caracciolo Castle, while the actual village is formed by small houses of two or three floors, made in stone, with simple techniques.
The roads are narrow lanes typical of that time.
In the village there are also religious buildings such as the Main Church.
The village is nowadays deteriorated because of the damage it underwent during the earthquakes of 1857 and 1980.
It needs intervention that should also rescue the environment and the monuments of the whole site, giving priority to the static and functional needs of the estates and of the monuments.
