Worth visiting is the characteristic old centre, with its narrow lanes broken up by arches, flights of steps, arcades, balconies in wrought iron, stone portals and small squares.
From the old centre, Via Vignarola leads to the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo, a small rural temple with a wooden ceiling of the XVIII century. Inside there are some wall paintings with unusual images.
‘Corso Vittorio Emanuele’, and then Via Roma, lead to Santa Barbara Chapel, now shut. It has a semicircular apse, decorated with little arches and frescos, of the late XVI century, by Antonio Aiello.
On the right of the apse, in an ‘aedicule’, there is the fresco (1566) called ‘Annunciazione, Madonna con Bambino e Sant’Eligio’, by Giovanni Todisco and, partially, Simone da Firenze. The frescos in the Churches of San Gregorio Magno and Sant’Antonio were painted by some of his pupils.
