Basilicata is rich in ceramics finds from Pre-history on.
Pre-historic manufactures were decorated with very simple patterns, mainly stripes and dots.
Later, this art developed and local products reached a high level of quality, in spite of external influences.
Nowadays, ceramics are made in many small workshops spread around Basilicata, thus favouring a rich artistic production that has not been influenced by any chain production.
